This is another family tale... a young woman gets pregnant and her pa wants her to go to the unmarried mothers' home in Charleston... her ma wants her to stay. Ma and Pa get in an argument and she winds up staying. Pa warms up to this but he and Ma remain so mad at each other that they never speak anything but cordial greetings to each other again. And each asks their daughter how the other is doing, or to convey messages,even if they are both sitting right there.
